Police Blue Light 2016

Four of our very athletic students from TIS went down to the Centennial Hall to compete in the Police Blue Light Challenge for 2016. This challenge wasn’t anything like an ordinary Cross Country run. There were trailers, beams, hurricane fences, hurdles, 6 foot fences, you name it! And these students had to do it all. They had practises to make themselves comfortable with all the obstacles, but after only twenty minutes, the competition had begun. Taradale had drawn the number 5 out of a hat which meant that they were running the course fifth, out of all the other fifteen schools that were attending the competition. The first four schools made some impressive times, and gave everyone else an advantage on the obstacles, showing them what’s, but when Taradale Intermediate stepped up to the line, it all went silent. Ready……..Set……….GO! And Taradale were off, first by muscling a trailer around 5 metres and stopping in line with two cones. Then they had to run around the whole arena, while one of the students hauls a tyre up from the trailer and places it about 5 metres away from where the team stopped the trailer. Then that person too had to run right round the arena and then the obstacles began. A beam, hurdles, weaving in and out of cones, sliding under bars, climbing through windows and over fences. Each obstacle had one thing in common. They were all no match for Taradale Intermediate’s rocket fast students. Cheers and gasps come from the crowd as Taradale Intermediate stop together on the finish line, posting a super speedy time that put them in the lead for then. After that it was all watching. Watching the other competitors try desperately to post a time better than ours. And after that, it was all over. Hastings Intermediate – 3rd, Peterhead School – 2nd, and once again the champions of the Police Blue Light Challenge………. Taradale Intermediate!!!
